‘Dishonored: Death of the Outsider’: How to Fix ‘Game Not Launching’ and other PC Errors

Arkane Studios recently released 'Dishonored: Death of the Outsider' as standalone DLC for Dishonored 2 on PC, Xbox One and PS4. However, within hours of the DLC going live, several users reportedly started complaining of game crashes, skipped intros, and other problems while launching the game on PC.

It is reported that the issue results in a pesky error message saying: "Game Not Launching", and prevents players from starting the new DLC. After receiving complaints from several affected players, Arkane Studios has finally released a Hotfix to resolve the problem.

Game Not Starting Hotfix

Arkane Studios has just released a hotfix to patch up stability issues and launching problems with the new DLC on the server side via Steam. So, the next time you login to steam or launch Dishonored 2, it should automatically install the necessary patches or hotfix updates for the DLC.

Here is what Arkane Studios wrote on Steam regarding the hotfix:

"We have released a HOTFIX that we believe resolves an issue preventing some players from launching the game."

Some players reportedly tried to 'Change Locale for non-Unicode programs' as workaround for Game Not Launching Issue. The game developer has now advised gamers to "revert the change" as it is likely to result in "insufficient storage space error."

Skipping Intro Videos

In related news, several PC users reported that they were unable to skip intro videos in 'Dishonored: Death of the Outsider' DLC. However, there is a simple workaround to enable the option to Skip Intro Videos automatically.

Here is what you should do:

Step 1: Right Click on Dishonored: Death of the Outsider in Steam and choose Properties

Step 2: Choose Launch Options

Step 3: Add +com_showLoadingScreen 0

Step 4: Click OK and then close the window

Step 5: That's it. Just check if the issue is resolved by starting the game. If it's successful, you will be redirected to the Loading Page, and a few seconds later you will see Load Shaders and other loading options before Main Menu appears.
