Huawei releases photo and a teaser video of Ascend P6 before the official launch

Huawei seems to be all set for the launch of its 4.7-inch smartphone, the Ascend P6. The company has released a photo and a teaser video just before the launch of the handset in London on June 18.

The company posted an image of the upcoming Ascend P6 on Facebook along with Richard Yu's, the company's CEO, statement "You know, after using the P6 more and more, I've begun to notice how nice the side keys were designed and how good it felt to press them. Their positioning along the edge felt just right and natural. They aren't protruding out too much so you don't have to worry about the wrong button being pushed when it's in your pocket, nor are they too flat that they're uncomfortable to feel. We were able to find that 'sweet spot.'"

The image of the device posted on Facebook shows the handset in white color with metal sides. However, the image doesn't show the buttons that Yu talks about on Facebook. Rumors suggest that the handset will be available in black, white and pink color options.

Previous rumors of the Ascend P6 hint that the smartphone will pack a 4.7-inch display with a 1,280 x 720 pixel resolution, a quad-core 1.5GHz processor, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of built-in storage and a 5-megapixel rear-facing shooter. The handset is expected to run on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean out of the box.

The Ascend P6 is expected to be 6.2mm (0.24-inch) thin making the handset one of the thinnest smartphones available in the market.

The competition in the smartphone space is getting very stiff with many companies launching a variety of handsets. At the same time, smartphone customers will be happy to see an array of handsets on offer but may get confused as to which handset to purchase.

Huawei is one of the lesser-known brands in Europe and North America and, therefore, it will be interesting to see if the company is able to attract more customers to the upcoming Ascend P6.
