HTC One mini expected to be released in July or August

HTC is on a winning streak with the HTC One and there have been rumors of both a larger and smaller version of its flagship smartphone in the wings. A new report claims that the HTC One Mini will see a release this summer and is expected to go head to head with the rumored low-cost iPhone and officially announced Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini.

HTC has won rave reviews for the design it achieved with the HTC One; it managed to build something that hasn't been seen in the Android world. It built a smartphone that has the specs to impress any smartphone fan and it also had the high-quality design and feel that is usually reserved for Apple's iPhone. The Taiwanese smartphone maker knows that one of the major reasons the HTC One is so popular is because of its anodized aluminum unibody case. The company isn't going to stray from that winning formula, so it will be bringing that case and more features from its current flagship to the HTC One Mini.

Bloomberg is reporting that the company will launch the HTC One Mini this summer and the smartphone will be going head-to-head with Apple's rumored low-cost iPhone and Samsung's Galaxy S4 Mini. Don't be fooled by the 'Mini' moniker. The smartphone is expected to feature a 4.3-inch 720p HD display, run Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean with HTC Sense 5.0, powered by a Qualcomm 1.6GHz dual-core Snapdragon 400 processor, include 16GB of internal storage, 2GB or RAM, the same 4.3-UltraPixel camera currently found on the HTC One, HTC BoomSound front-facing stereo speakers with Beats audio technology, 4G LTE radio, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, anodized aluminum unibody case, and a 1700 mAh battery.

The smartphone is expected to go on sale in July or August, since HTC wants to launch the device before Apple's expected September release of the low-cost iPhone. HTC also has Samsung's Galaxy S4 Mini in its sights, and if the rumored specs of HTC One Mini are true, the handset would offer better specs and features than the Galaxy S4 Mini. HTC seems to have found new confidence with the success of the HTC One; we recently reported that the company is preparing to launch an HTC One Max that will go head-to-head with the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 in the phablet world. It seems Samsung has more than just Apple to contend with this year.
