Apple has finally taken the wraps off its much-awaited iOS 7 and while the beta version was released by the company, the Gold Master release seems to align with the expected launch timeline of the iPhone 5S.
With the iOS 7 release planned for fall, a strong possibility exists that in keeping with tradition, Apple would release the latest version of iOS alongside the next-gen iPhone.
Several features of the iOS 7 will likely tie in with the new design of the next iteration of the iPhone and hint at what improvements and new features the iPhone 5S may pack in.
We take a look at the top five things iOS 7 reveals about the impending iPhone 5S.
1. Faster Processor
iOS 7 will pack in a gamut of new features, including a redesigned Game Center, new game modes and improved multitasking. Gaming and multitasking require powerful processors to be fully effective and this hints at the iPhone 5S housing a faster processor, capable of delivering superior performance than the iPhone 5.
Rumors have been rife that Apple has a next-gen A7 processor in the works, which it could possibly deploy in the iPhone 5S.
2. Improved Camera
Apple announced that iOS 7 would bring in 60 fps video capture. What's more, the new OS will introduce a revamped camera app which offers filters and two new modes, namely Still and Square.
These upgrades suggest that Apple is focusing on camera enhancements for the iPhone to improve the user experience. This in turn hints that the iPhone 5S will come with camera improvements to take advantage of what iOS 7 has on offer. Rumors point to the iPhone 5S touting a 13-megapixel primary camera, which could well make full use of the new apps.
3. Superior Battery
With iOS 7 set to pack in a slew of powerful features like FaceTime Voice Calls over LTE, auto app updates, multitasking etc., iDevices would consume plenty of battery power to accommodate these features. Chances are high that the next-gen iPhone would be equipped to provide ample power and could pack in a more powerful battery as a result.
Considering Apple announced battery improvements with the new OS X Mavericks, iPhone 5S could well be headed in the same direction.
4. Enhanced Speakers
Apple announced its new iTunes Radio service and revamped Music app at the WWDC. With the new music streaming service in place, introduction of FaceTime Voice Calls and the Music app featured in iOS 7's new Control Center, Apple would likely enhance the speakers of the iPhone 5S to keep pace with its software.
5. 802.11ac
Apple's new MacBook Air models have been given the new 802.11ac networking standard, which the company claims will enable Internet speeds that is three times faster. While the iPhone 5 did not come with this standard, Apple could very well bring this in for the iPhone 5S. The biggest giveaway is the introduction of AirDrop sharing, which would require faster networking speeds.
