At the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S4, the company had announced that the handset has wireless charging capabilities and it will release a wireless charging kit soon after the smartphone makes its way to the shelves. The Samsung wireless charging kit is now available from the company's website and interestingly, U.S. carrier Verizon is also selling its own wireless charging kit for the handset.
Currently, the Galaxy S4 is the most-wanted Android smartphone around and the handset has already sold over 10 million units globally just within a month of release. Wireless charging for the handset may increase the popularity of the handset even further.
However, wireless charging solution for the Galaxy S4 doesn't come for free. You'll have to splash $39.99 for the wireless charging cover and $49.99 for the wireless charging pad.
The wireless charging cover for the Galaxy S4 can be charged using any other Qi wireless charging pad. As such, if you already have a wireless charging pad then you can get away from buying the wireless charging pad offered by Samsung and Verizon.
The price of the Verizon wireless charging accessories for the Galaxy S4 is the same as what is found on Samsung's website. However, if you buy it from Verizon, then the wireless charging cover will also have a Verizon logo accompanied with the 4G LTE branding.
According to a Droid-Life report, the wireless charging kit may not be available on Verizon's site. "We've also been told that if your store doesn't have them in stock, that they can be ordered over the phone. For whatever reason, they are not currently available through Verizon's site, though we would assume that they will be before long," the report said.
Wireless charging is definitely convenient for those customers who don't want the hassle of wires using traditional charging methods. However, wireless charging is not as fast as plugging your handset to an electric socket charger.
