The Samsung Galaxy S4 has won over the hearts of millions of smartphone enthusiasts who have been eagerly waiting for the handset. Even though the Galaxy S4 has managed to become popular in the smartphone space within a short time span, some customers have faced certain issues with the handset. Now, Samsung has started rolling out a software update to address a few issues. The fix was initially released in Germany and now it's being rolled out in India as well.
An XDA Developers thread is full with complaints from Galaxy S4 users that the phone's display had smearing issues and the letters had a purple tint.
Per a complaint, "Ok I picked up my new galaxy s4 today, I've owned all the galaxy s handsets and been pleased with them. However I noticed some weird screen issue earlier, basically while scrolling dark greys on blacks smudge/smear purple."
Following the latest software update, however, the purple smear issue should be resolved.
The Galaxy S4 comes in 16/32/64GB internal storage options and the storage can be expanded via a microSD card slot. However, the handset has come under a lot of criticism when it was discovered that the 16GB version of the handset has only 9.15GB of user accessible storage.
Samsung seems to have given heed to customer feedback, as the software update also addresses the storage issue by slightly bumping up the internal, usable storage space from 9.15GB to 9.23GB.
Following the software update, Galaxy S4 users can also record HDR (High-Dynamic-Range) video on their handsets. Furthermore, users get to access new icons in setting options, smart pause toggle and secure boot status.
The software update also brings along new camera software, semi-transparent status bar and a new display feature, which offers increased legibility.
The Galaxy S4 update is available over-the-air (OTA) as well as via Samsung Kies. The software update will be rolled out in phases and you'll have to wait until the software is available on your handset.
