AT&T has announced that the BlackBerry Q10 will be available online and in retail stores on June 21. The Q10 will be offered for $199 when signing a new 2-year contract. The carrier is also taking pre-orders for the smartphone now.
BlackBerry fans on AT&T's network will be happy to know that the QWERTY-packing Q10 will finally be offered from the carrier. Verizon and T-Mobile have both been selling the Q10 and now it's AT&T's chance to bring the smartphone that most BlackBerry fans have been waiting for. Unlike the Z10, the Q10 features a key ingredient that makes a BlackBerry a "BlackBerry" - the physical QWERTY keyboard that made the company an icon in the smartphone world. The Z10 offered BlackBerry 10 (BB10) on an all-touch device, but the Q10 looks and feels like a familiar BlackBerry with the added benefit of running BB10.
AT&T released the following statement with the announcement of the BlackBerry Q10 going on sale to its customers:
"AT&T is pleased to add the BlackBerry Q10 smartphone to our growing BlackBerry portfolio," said Jeff Bradley, senior vice president - Devices, AT&T. "The combination of AT&T's blazing fast 4G LTE network and the BlackBerry Q10 smartphone's improved physical keyboard and touchscreen will help you stay productive and efficient on-the-go."
The AT&T BlackBerry Q10 features a 3.1-inch diagonal 720 × 720 Super AMOLED display with 330ppi (pixels per inch), runs BlackBerry 10, is powered by a 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus processor, includes 16GB of internal storage, 2GB of RAM, an 8-megapixel rear camera, 2-megapixel front-facing camera, micro HDMI port, 4G LTE radio, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, NFC, microSD expansion slot with support for up to 32GB, and a removable 2100 mAh battery.
AT&T is charging $199.99 for the Q10 when signing a new 2-year contract, but for a limited time, customers, who trade in their current smartphone to the carrier, will be eligible to receive at least $100 off the purchase of the BlackBerry Q10.
The BlackBerry Q10 can now be pre-ordered online. Those who pre-order, will get their smartphones shipped on June 18, while the handset will be available in retail stores beginning June 21.
