A recent post on Nokia conversations hints that Nokia will finally take the wraps off the highly-anticipated EOS smartphone.
Nokia has already sent out press invites for an event scheduled for July 11 in New York City. However, the company hasn't revealed which device will take center stage at the event.
Rumors and images of the upcoming Nokia EOS have been doing the rounds very frequently online. The handset has also been spotted at FCC and is supposedly heading to AT&T.
The company's post on Nokia Conversations says, "Earlier this month, we invited media to join us in New York on July 11th. We are happy to offer Conversations readers the opportunity to watch the latest news unfold over a live webcast, right here on the blog." However, Nokia has also posted an image which says "41 Million Reasons, See More At Conversations.Nokia.Com" along with the date and time of the event.
Even though the company doesn't name the EOS, '41 million reasons' hints towards the 41-megapixel camera of the upcoming EOS.
The EOS will be targeted at smartphone users looking for a top-end camera integrated in a smartphone. The Nokia EOS should give direct competition to the recently launched Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom, which is equipped with a 16-megapixel rear-facing camera. Rumors also indicate that Sony has the i1 Honami smartphone in the pipeline, which will include a 20-megapixel rear-facing camera along with Sony Cybershot camera user interface. With the launch of Sony i1 Honami and Nokia EOS, the competition in the camera smartphone segment will get very interesting.
The leaked specifications of the EOS hint at a smartphone with top-end hardware specifications. The leaked images, which show close resemblance to the Nokia Lumia 920, indicate a sleek design for the handset. Coupled together, the internals and the external appearance may definitely attract smartphone customers looking out for a top-end smartphone with a high-end camera.
July 11 is still a good few weeks away from now, so we will have to wait and see if Nokia takes the wraps off the EOS.
