Rumors of the Moto X smartphone have been surfacing for quite some time and now, a few accessories for the handset have also emerged online, even before the device has made it to the shelves.
Various pictures and purported specifications of the Moto X have leaked, but this is the first time that accessories are on sale for the handset. Online retailer Skinomi has begun to sell skin protectors and screen protectors for the upcoming handset.
The skin protector has a price tag of $19.95 and the product description on Skinomi says, "The Motorola Moto X Skin Protector features two layers of protection. The first, topmost layer contains no unsightly 'orange peel effect,' while providing scratch-resistance and UV protection for anti-yellowing. The second layer is a thick, puncture resistant film to minimize damage from scrapes and dents. Unlike other Motorola Moto X screen protectors and skins, the TechSkin features 'self-healing' technology, meaning scratches do not stay on the film, and keeps your Motorola Moto X looking new."
Skinomi claims that the skin protector is made from the same film material used to protect luxury cars, military aircrafts and NASA space shuttles and the Motorola Moto X Skin Protector is custom-made to specifically fit the upcoming Moto X.
The online retailer is selling the screen protector for $11.95. Unfortunately, none of the accessories have a shipping date to hint the release of the smartphone.
Even though we don't know when the Moto X will launch Motorola's CEO, Dennis Woodside said, "We have a hero device that's coming out that's going to be called Moto X."
Previous rumors suggest that the Moto X may not be just one handset but a line-up of smartphones with customizable hardware. However, a recent report suggests that the handset will have a 1.7GHz dual-core MSM8960 Pro processor, 2GB and 16GB of on-board storage. The handset is supposed to be equipped with a 10-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera.
