HP has taken the wraps off its Slate 21 all-in-one (AIO), which is an Android-powered tablet hybrid running on Nvidia's Tegra 4 chip.
The HP Slate 21 AIO, as the name suggests, touts a huge 21.5-inch IPS LCD display with Full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The desktop-tablet combo offers wide viewing angles and instead of running on Windows, it is powered by Android.
The HP Slate 21 runs looks like a tablet, but has a fold-out kickstand on the rear so you can use it as a desktop as well. The stand makes it easier for users to prop the device upright for watching movies or creating a better viewing angle (up to 30 degrees) for touchscreen navigation. The 21.5-inch touchscreen on the device also offers supports for 10-finger multitouch.
HP claims its Slate 21 is ideal for web browsing, video calls and media consumption. Per the company, the device apparently "has an excellent multi-tasking performance, can enjoy the music while access to exciting online content."
The Slate 21 also features the HP TrueVision HD webcam, which is located above the display. The device also packs in built-in stereo speakers with DTS Digital Theater sound, which "can give consumers the best audio visual experience."
The Nvidia Tegra 4 processor will ensure better graphics performance when compared to the previous-gen Tegra 3. This feature would be welcomed by gamers, especially since the HP Slate 21 is being touted as a home entertainment product.
The new HP tablet will come with the latest Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean out of the box. Whether HP has customized the UI or is opting for an unadulterated Android experience is not known at this juncture.
HP did not disclose the price tag or the date of release for the Slate 21. The company let on that the details will only be revealed when the tablet hits the shelves in a particular country.
