Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 hitting U.S. shelves on July 7, starts at $199

Come July 7, Samsung's Galaxy Tab 3 line-up of tablets will start making their way to consumers. The pre-orders for the tablets begin Tuesday, June 25.

The new Galaxy Tab 3 series tablets were launched earlier in June and will come in three screen sizes: 7 inches, 8 inches and 10.1 inches. Samsung has finally disclosed the price tag and the Android-powered tablets will be available for purchase from several retailers like Best Buy, Walmart, Amazon and Office Depot, to name a few. Samsung's online store will also retail the Galaxy Tab 3 tablets.

"Samsung's industry-leading smartphones, Note devices and tablets address consumers' diverse demands and personal preferences," said Nanda Ramachandran, VP of emerging business at Samsung Telecommunications America. "The Galaxy Tab 3 portfolio offers consumers more options for tablets that serve as their ultimate smartphone companion, the center of home and on-the-go use, and mobile devices packed with content and services."

The 7-inch Galaxy Tab 3 with its TFT display and 1024 x 600 pixels resolution has a price of $199 and packs in a dual-core processor, which is clocked at 1.2GHz. The tablet also has 8GB of on-board storage and offers support for additional memory via the micro SD slot. The tablet will come with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean out of the box.

The 8-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 also has a TFT display but with a higher resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels and is priced at $299. This tablet will house the powerful Exynos dual-core processor, which is clocked at 1.5GHz. The Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 touts 1.5GB of RAM and features a 5-megapixel primary camera. It has an on-board storage capacity of 16GB, which is also expandable via a microSD card. The tablet will come pre-loaded with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.

The third tablet in the series, Galaxy Tab 3 10.1, packing in the Intel Z2560 Clover Trail+ dual-core processor (clocked at 1.6GHz). This 10-inch tablet is priced at $399 and has 1280 x 800 pixel resolution. This tablet too will come pre-loaded with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.

All three Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 models go up for pre-order starting on June 25 and sales begin July 7. However, the tablets that will retail in the U.S. will be Wi-Fi-only and offer no cellular support.
