When Apple unveiled iOS 7, it only released a beta version of the next-generation operating system for iPhone and iPod touch to developers. Apple announced that it would release an update in the coming weeks for the iPad and iPad mini. The company stuck to its words and two weeks later, it has released an updated version of iOS 7 that now supports all of its iOS devices capable of running the operating system. It also brings some new features that weren't part of the first beta.
Tim Cook stated that iOS 7 was the biggest thing to happen to iOS since the original iPhone. It brings a redesigned interface that will feel familiar to current iOS users but also brings new features that iOS users have been asking for years. You can read about all the new iOS 7 features we reported on after Apple's event here. Let's take a look at what's new in iOS 7 beta 2.
9TO5Mac has reported the new features and posted images of what it has uncovered in iOS 7 beta 2. The update brings Voice Memos back, the feature was left out of beta 1. Users can now choose between either a male or female voice for Siri. Apple has added a new clock icon and animation to Control Center. The Weather application has seen an update with a new button being added to allow access to all cities entered into the app. Notification Center has also been given the ability to add media to Shared Photo Streams.
The Reminders app has been given a makeover, allowing users to color code lists. Apple has also given visual tweaks to Messages, Lock screen music controls, Safari, panorama camera UI, media player controls and UI. FaceTime has been given a darker UI, and Apple has also revamped the Nike+ app in iOS 7 beta 2.
Of course, the major change to iOS 7 beta 2 is its added support for iPad and iPad mini. The images give the world the first real look at what iOS 7 will look like running on the iPad and how users will use the new features on Apple's tablets.
Apple is expected to release the final version of iOS 7 in September, when it also releases the upcoming iPhone 5S and the rumored low-cost iPhone.
