The much-awaited Android-powered gaming console OUYA is finally available for sale in stores, sporting a $99.99 price tag.
While original backers of the Kickstarter-funded console are yet to receive their devices, OUYA is now available for purchase via retail stores like Target, Best Buy and the OUYA store. Retailers like GameStop and Amazon are also offering the affordable gaming console.
The response for the gaming console is apparently overwhelming as according to a CNET report, it is already sold out on some retailers.
"The Android-based console is also available at Amazon. However, as of this writing, Ouya is already sold out on Amazon and GameStop. It is still available online at Best Buy and Target," notes CNET.
The Android-powered gaming console's Kickstarter campaign created quite a stir. While the device's release met with several changes and unwarranted delays along the way, OUYA is finally making its way to consumers.
"It's incredible to think that a little under a year ago Ouya was just an idea -- we wanted to do something completely new in console gaming: build a $99 game console, with no discs to buy, open to all developers, and affordable to all gamers," Ouya CEO and co-founder Julie Uhrman said in a statement. "Today, Ouya is real."
The console will be available in several stores across U.S., the UK and Canada. OUYA console will come with a single controller, to purchase another one consumers will need to shell out an additional $49.99.
At this juncture it is unknown if OUYA has enough inventory to meet supply demands. If you want to pick up the gaming console check out any of the following retailers:- OUYA store, Best Buy, Target, GameStop, Amazon, Amazon Canada, Amazon UK, Game UK.
