ASUS MeMo Pad HD 7 with quadcore proccessor available for $149

ASUS is giving the Nexus 7 a run for its money. The company that builds the tablet for Google has launched a new 7-inch HD tablet with the ASUS MeMo Pad HD 7 and it only costs $149.

ASUS is the tablet OEM Google uses to build the Nexus 7 tablet. The company has also been contracted by Google to build the Nexus 7's successor. The MeMo Pad HD 7 has the current Nexus 7 in its sights in terms of specs, design, and price. The new tablet will use a similar 7-inch 1200 x 800 resolution wide-view angle IPS (in plane switching) HD display. ASUS is bringing an HD display to the lower end of the tablet market with its $149 price tag.

The tablet also includes another first for a low-end tablet, the MeMo Pad HD 7 ships with a 1.2GHz quad-core processor. This will allow the tablet to play more advanced games than similar priced tablets and also provide a smooth user interface. ASUS is including 16GB of internal storage for users to install apps, videos, music and games. The company is also including one year of 16GB ASUS Webstorage Space for even more storage in the cloud. The tablet features 1GB of RAM and includes Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.0.

The tablet includes a 5-megapixel rear camera for photos and video, something the Nexus 7 is lacking, and also has a 1.2-megapixel front facing camera for video calling. Users will be able to enjoy audio through the tablet's built-in stereo speakers with Sonicmaster technology that promises incredible sound effect. The MeMo Pad HD 7 runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and has full access to the Google Play Store; another feature most low-end tablets don't offer. The tablet includes a 15Wh battery with the company claiming up to 10 hours of battery life. It is available in choice of white, blue, pink, green, or grey.

ASUS seems intent on making sure it covers the low-end Android tablet market with its latest tablet offerings. The MeMo Pad HD 7 finally brings some higher end features, like HD display and a quad-core processor to the low-end. The tablet is available now and with a very attractive $149 price tag.
