Samsung Galaxy Note 3 to tout 5.7-inch screen and will debut at IFA 2013?

Rumors and leaks surrounding the upcoming Samsung phablet, the Galaxy Note 3, have been popping up online quite frequently. The latest news report pertaining to the Galaxy Note 3 claims that the device will tout a 5.7-inch screen and debut at the IFA 2013 in Berlin.

This source of information is Korea Herald, which cites "industry officials" as its sources.

According to the Korea Herald "The world's No. 1 smartphone maker is also expected to reveal the 5.7-inch Galaxy Note 3 in September at the IFA 2013 event in Germany, according to industry officials."

While the report does not disclose who exactly these industry sources are or any other specifications or feature, it lets on that Samsung would have an advantage over arch-rival Apple if the latter launches a bigger iPhone as speculated. Why? Because Samsung has been building bigger screen devices for a while now, whereas this would be uncharted territory for Apple.

"The revolutionizing LTE-A technology, which allows the users to search and download at up to 150 Mbps right in the palm of their hands, is expected to encourage more companies to explore a variety of ways to commercialize larger handheld devices from now on," reveals industry official per the Korea Herald.

Previously, rumors have suggested that the Galaxy Note 3 will feature a 5.99-inch screen, which would be a major improvement on the Galaxy Note and Galaxy Note 2 which sported 5.3-inch and 5.5-inch displays, respectively. The much-awaited phablet is popular for its note-taking abilities, with the S-Pen stylus being its USP.

Even though several other OEM's have launched colossal phablets in the 6-inch plus region this year, the Galaxy Note 3 will likely rule the roost thanks to the success of previous-gen models.

Whether the Korea Herald report is legit is anybody's guess and should be taken with a pinch of salt, especially since the publication mistakenly says that the Galax Mega "can be operated with Samsung's signature stylus pen."
