'Super Mario RPG’ Creator Plans To Create Another 'Mario' RPG For His Final Game

Despite how exciting the news is, it is worth noting that there is no official announcement or release date yet.

'Super Mario RPG' Creator Would Love To Create Another 'Mario' RPG As His Final Game

"Super Mario RPG," a 1996 NES video game, came before "Paper Mario" and the "Mario & Luigi" series.

Since the particular game has been released for more than 20 years now, several Mario fans are wondering if the role-playing game will have its sequel. Surprisingly, one of the "Super Mario RPG" creators also wants to release a follow-up of the aforementioned title.

To further emphasize, Chihiro Fujioka recently spoke with YouTube channel MinnMax about the production of "Super Mario RPG" for the Super Famicom, as well as how he would be open to a sequel.

In fact, he would like to make it his "final" game.

Talking about why did he chose the "Super Mario RPG" as his final game, the 62-year-old game creator explained that he would like to go back and create a "Mario RPG" where players are only controlling Mario. When asked about his ideas, the Japanese video game designer did not disclose any details about the said sequel.

For those wondering about the Fujioka, Nintendo Life explained that he formerly worked on "EarthBound, the "Mario and Luigi" series at AlphaDream, “Super Mario RPG” and the Final Fantasy series while at Square.

To provide further details, "Super Mario RPG" is a role-playing video game developed by Square (now Square Enix) for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, per Nintendo Fandom.

This was the first "Mario" role-playing game that featured a fighting process based on action commands.

In terms of the game mechanism, "Mario" must stop a new adversary, the Smithy Gang, with the assistance of Mallow, Geno, Bowser, and Princess Toadstool, while collecting seven Star Pieces so that peace may be restored and wishes can be fulfilled once more.

Due to the arrival of the Nintendo 64 and Super Mario 64 four months later the release of "Super Mario RPG", the game's success became limited. Apart from this, it was also the final game of Square's classic Nintendo partnership, as well as the last Mario game for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System.
