LG has introduced two new CineBeam 4K laser projector line-ups, the CineBeam HU715Q and HU710P projectors.
Over the past decade, projector technology has advanced significantly over the past decade, with projectors moving from being expensive, clunky beasts to more affordable and compact devices.
Despite the fact that televisions continue to be popular, some consumers have abandoned traditional television in favor of alternatives.
Nowadays, more users opt to purchase projectors as alternatives in favor of content from on-demand and live-streaming television services that are available on the Internet.
Projectors also have the advantage of displaying images on screens that are significantly larger than those of LCD and OLED televisions.
LG is aiming at this market with its well-known CineBeam product line, which has recently expanded with the addition of two new models designed specifically for home use.
LG's new CineBeam HU715Q and HU710P projectors are known to both have the company's laser projection technology. Aside from that, both of the projectors have two key features that make the models suitable for use as TV replacements: ultra-short throw projection and high peak brightness levels.
Consumers will be able to place projectors close to the wall on which the image is projected and watch content even if the room is not completely dark.
LG CineBeam HU715Q
According to Tom's Guide, the new LG CineBeam HU715Q promises to provide users with a big-screen experience without requiring them to make significant changes to their living spaces.
With this new compact short-throw LG projector, users can project 100-inch 4K images onto a dedicated screen or just a plain wall from only 8.7 inches (22cm) away due to laser-LED technology.
Aside from the fact that it measures only 21 x 12.4 x 6.02 inches (533 x 315 mm), the projector will take up significantly less space than one of our best televisions.
With four built-in speakers, the LG CineBeam HU715Q is arranged in a 2.2 configuration, despite having a compact size.
However, for those users who prefer more powerful audio, the projector has an HDMI port that is compatible with the eARC, allowing it to be connected to soundbars. It also has the option of connecting to other speakers via Bluetooth.
When it comes to image quality, the LG CineBeam HU715Q can produce images in 4K resolution while also boasting a massive 2,000,000:1 claimed contrast ratio and a peak brightness of 2,500 ANSI lumens.
LG CineBeam HU710P
Both CineBean projectors have a maximum lamp life of 20,000 hours each; the HU710P is equipped with a wheel-less hybrid laser and LED light source.
Many of the features of the two CineBeam projectors are the same, but there are some significant differences between them.
According to Slash Gear, the CineBeam HU710P model requires a greater distance from the wall than the HU715Q, with a minimum throw distance of 9.5 feet for a 100-inch screen.
However, the model makes up for this with a much larger maximum projected image size of 300 inches.
According to the company, its wheel-less hybrid laser and LED light source contributes to the creation of bright colors and deep blacks, which compensate for the lower 2,000 ANSI lumens brightness level.
Other differences include a 1.6x zoom lens, a throw ratio of 1.3 - 2.08, and the ability to support lens shift.
Another difference is that the HU710P has a downgraded stereo audio output of only 5W.
