American video game publisher Bethesda recently announced that their PC launcher service will shut down this year, but they have a plan in pace to let players smoothly transfer their files and wallets to Steam.
Bethesda PC Launcher to Migrates to Steam
With the said shutdown, users will need to transfer their games, DLCs, virtual currency, in-game goods and wallet balance to their Steam accounts, per Engadget. Aside from this, players will be able to transfer anything to Steam, including their friends' lists, starting in April.
The game developer added that some save files may need to be manually copied to the Steam folder. The company expects that nearly all save data will be transferrable.
However, "Wolfenstein: Youngblood" saved from the Bethesda launcher will not operate on Steam for the time being.
Bethesda reminded users that they only have until May to play games using the Bethesda PC launcher, adding that after that period, players will still be able to move their data to Steam.
On the other hand, Bethesda.net accounts will not be removed. Players can still access their account on Bethesda's website and use it to check in to games that require it.
Bethesda will keep using the accounts in future games.
'Fallout 76' Players Must Renew Subscription on April
Unfortunately, "Fallout 76" players must keep in mind that Fallout 1st membership will not be automatically renewed, per Bethesda. This only means that once the membership expires, gamers will need to renew their membership on the Steam platform.
For those who have an active Fallout 1st membership, Bethesda also explained that players will continue to get the same in-game rewards on Steam the same with the Bethesda.net Launcher.
Furthermore, the game developer also clarified that all left remaining Atom from the subscription will be credited to the created account as soon as players switch to Steam. Meanwhile, yearly subscribers will be able to receive all of their Atoms for the duration of their membership.
In relation to this, if the membership expires in eight months, players will receive all eight months of Atom at once upon migrating to Steam.
For those unfamiliar, "Fallout 76" was created by Bethesda Game Studios and is also the game developer behind the award-winning title "Skyrim" and "Fallout 4."
"Twenty-five years after the bombs fall, you and your fellow Vault Dwellers-chosen from the nation's best and brightest - emerge into post-nuclear America on Reclamation Day, 2102," per Steam.
Gamers can also play this solo or even as a team as players explore, quest, build and triumph against massive threats. In this open-world multiplayer addition to the Fallout story, gamers are able to explore a vast wasteland that was devastated by a nuclear war.
In the legendary Fallout map, players can also experience the largest and most dynamic world ever created.
