PlayStation fans are finally getting new clues about the incoming changes in the project codenamed Spartacus. It is reportedly a multi-tiered subscription service which is expected to rival Microsoft's Xbox Game Pass.
Data miners said PlayStation Spartacus will offer new games and benefits for its members. Some of its pricing and contents were recently teased online.
PlayStation Spartacus Subscription Price and Tier Levels
GameBeat said Spartacus would be an upgrade from the current PlayStation Plus service. Spartacus is said to offer three tiers named Essential, Extra and Premium. Note, however, that the names and prices are still subject to change until Sony makes this official.
Listed below are the benefits available for each tier:
- PS+ Essential ($10): monthly games.
- PS+ Extra ($13): monthly games and game catalogue.
- PS+ Premium ($16): monthly games, game catalogue, streaming, classic games and game trials.
The first tier on the list, PS+ Essential, is speculated to run the exact same features and benefits currently found in PS Plus.
Meanwhile, PS+ Extra is getting a little upgrade through the game catalogue. The game catalogue is a library for older downloadable games, which means players will enjoy a wider range of choices. This feature might have been taken from the Sony download catalogue on PS Now.
Lastly, PS+ Premium gets everything mentioned above with a lot of extra benefits. Aside from the streaming tools which can help content creators, PS+ Premium will include a library of "classic games." Unfortunately, reports did not elaborate on the games itself.
Members will also enjoy new "game trials" feature. This implies a few extra hours of free gameplay on new game releases similar to EA Play benefits from Electronic Arts.
As previously mentioned, all details might still change since there is still no official announcement from Sony and all current details are only considered as rumors.
