Fans of "Futurama" 2023 are getting some good news. John DiMaggio just tweeted that he will be returning as Bender!
Earlier this year, Hulu revealed the revival of the sitcom series "Futurama." The incoming season will have 20 episodes, and it will premiere sometime in 2023.
Hulu promised the series would feature the same creators and cast members. Now with DiMaggio's announcement, the promise is fulfilled.
DiMaggio Tweets About 'Futurama'
DiMaggio initially had reservations about joining the crew for another "Futurama" series. Last month, many fans tweeted him to sign up for the production, but he only responded with a comment: "Thanks for the concern and the props, everyone. I really appreciate it. Don't worry. I'll keep you posted."
Nearly a week after the first tweet, DiMaggio posted an update with a screenshot of a letter he presumably sent to the "Futurama" team. DiMaggio said, "I've been thinking about everything that's been going on these past months, and just to be clear, I don't think that only I deserve to be paid more."
The post brought out mixed reactions from fans. While some fans were concerned about DiMaggio's terms, others were adamant that he had to play the role of Bender, the iconic robot in the series.
In the end, it seems both fans and DiMaggio got what they wanted because the voice actor tweeted that he was back on the show.
Notably, the full details of DiMaggio's contract were not disclosed to the public. So fans can only take DiMaggio's word that he finally came to an agreement with the "Futurama" producers.
Fans React to 'Futurama' Revival
Many fans immediately tweeted their excitement about this development. Some of them said they could hear DiMaggio's announcement with Bender's clips.
One fan tweeted: "Awesome. Awesome to the max."
The whole announcement almost seems to be too good to be true.
'Futurama' Revival: Full Cast and Crew
As previously mentioned, DiMaggio's announcement meant the original crew for "Futurama" was finally complete. GameSpot said that the main cast for the incoming show would be:
- Billy West as Fry
- Katey Sagal as Leela
- Lauren Tom as Amy
- Phil LaMarr as Hermes
Sources say the cast will be busy producing the series this year, so its launch date will be scheduled for next year. Unfortunately for fans, producers have yet to reveal an official timeframe for the series.
So for now, fans are recommended to wait for more updates. Hopefully, more details about "Futurama" 2023 will be revealed in the coming months.
