Netflix is launching a new feature to add sub account members for a cheaper price.
Netflix has become one of the go-to sources of entertainment and unique originals for the most entertaining series and films. With that, Netflix observed that there has been confusion among users such that they share their accounts with people that do not belong to their household.
The streaming giant addressed the problem with this new feature!
Netflix Launching Features
Netflix announced that it will be launching two new features in their platform. The upcoming feature is still in testing and will be released in Chile, Costa Rica, and Peru.
This launch has been prompted due to the confusion of most members when it comes to sharing their accounts with multiple people not included in the plan. Some users have been sharing their login details with others beyond their households and family members.
The company stated that the ability of Netflix to invest in exciting new television shows and films for its members is affected by unauthorized sharing.
Netflix made it simple for people who live together to share a Netflix account by including features such as separate profiles and multiple streams in their Standard and Premium plans, as well as a variety of other options.
With that, Netflix found a way for account owners to add more and more members under their accounts with an additional fee.
When adding an Extra Member, sub accounts covering two people can be added to Netflix's Standard and Premium plans. This sub account is best for family or friends who do not live together in the same household, city, or country.
The sub account members will also have their own profile, personalized recommendations, login, and password. The fees for extra members are at a relatively lower price, 2,380 CLP in Chile, 2.99 USD in Costa Rica, and 7.9 PEN in Peru.
Account owners can also add another member through the Transferring Profile to a New Account feature. Individuals who have Basic, Standard, and Premium plans can grant permission to others who use their account to transfer profile information to a new account or an Extra Member sub account, while maintaining their viewing history, My List, and personalized recommendations.

Account Sharing in Netflix
Netflix's terms of use state that it is legal to share accounts, the company stated that "personal and non-commercial use only and may not be shared with individuals beyond your household."
On the other hand, children under 18 are not allowed to create their own personal accounts. Netflix subscribers under 18 should be required to acquire their accounts through guardians or parents.
According to Android Central, Netflix Chief Product Manager Neil Hunt states that a Netflix account is originally intended to be shared in one household.
Even though it may seem counter-intuitive, the number of profiles a user can create per Netflix account does not correspond to the number of devices that can stream Netflix at the same time, as others might expect.
The number of accounts will be determined by the Netflix plan the account holder has subscribed to.
