Verizon started selling the 32GB Samsung Galaxy S4 for $299.99 in early July but now the carrier has officially lowered that price to $249.99.
When Samsung launched the Galaxy S4 in the U.S., AT&T had the exclusive on the 32GB model while Verizon, Sprint, and T-Mobile were offering only the 16GB version. Earlier this month Verizon, however, began offering customers the 32GB Galaxy S4 for $299.99. This was a $50 premium over what AT&T currently charges for its respective model.
With the new price cut, the 32GB Samsung Galaxy S4 from Verizon is available at the same price as AT&T's version. Samsung has nothing to worry about. The BlackBerry Z10 may have seen aggressive price cuts due to weak sales, but it's not the same situation here. Verizon has simply gotten rid of a paper trail. The carrier was previously offering a $50 mail-in rebate with the purchase of the higher-capacity version of the smartphone and now it is applying that discount automatically.
At first, Verizon claimed that it had no plans to offer the 32GB Galaxy S4 but consumers urged the carrier to reconsider, especially after the 16GB Galaxy S4 shipped with only 8.82GB of storage available to the user. The carrier listened to what its customers wanted and started selling the 32GB model of the smartphone as well. Samsung, meanwhile, has released a software update that addresses the 16GB Galaxy S4's storage issue by allowing users to store applications on a removable microSD card.
The Verizon Samsung Galaxy S4 features a 5-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080) display with a pixel density of 441 pixels per inch (ppi) and Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The smartphone rocks the latest Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean with Samsung's TouchWiz Nature UX, is powered by a 1.9GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, includes 16GB or 32GB of internal storage, 2GB of RAM, a microSD expansion slot with support for up to 64GB microSD cards, a 13-megapixel rear camera with auto flash and zero shutter lag, HD 1080p video capture at 30fps, a 2-megapixel front facing camera, 4G LTE radio, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n//ac, Bluetooth 4.0, infrared LED universal remote control, and a 2,600mAh removable battery.
If you're looking to purchase the 32GB Verizon Samsung Galaxy S4, the carrier is offering it in Black Mist and Frost White color options online and its retail stores, with a new $249.99 price tag.
