Toyota's GR Corolla is finally here. After numerous speculations, rumors, and leaks from here and there, the Toyota GR Corolla has been unveiled.
The Toyota GR Corolla will be available to the public with two different kinds of models: Core and Circuit Edition.
GR Corolla's Circuit Edition is set to have a color-keyed roof with a rear lip spoiler, GR-Four stamped side rockers, and wide-fender flares will be available later this year.
The Circuit Edition GR Corollas will be produced in limited numbers and will feature specs such as a forged carbon-fiber roof, a vented bulge hood, and a sporty rear spoiler.
GR Corolla Design Specs: Interior and Exterior
The GR Corolla has a design that emphasizes a wider exterior look. It has wide fenders, a huge, gaping front grille, a hugely flared rear bumper, and vents and holes cut all over the body.
The Toyota GR Corolla's design also makes it look ready to take on adventures and races. The front door panels and the hood are made of aluminum. The tapered shape of the nose sends air over the rear spoiler for the most downforce.
The sleek new car's tuned struts are used in the front, and a multilink system is used in the back to work with the AWD system. According to Car and Drive, there are two extra inches on each side, so the GR is 2.4 inches wider than the average Corolla.
In addition, the car also uses those extra inches to put Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires on gloss-black 15-spoke alloy wheels. A slotted 11.7-inch brake rotor is behind the front wheels and a slotted 14.0-inch brake rotor is behind the rear wheels, as well.
Furthermore, GR Corolla Circuit Edition has red calipers marked with the GR logo that stop them in their tracks and keep them from moving.
This GR of Toyota may have dramatically changed its exterior, but its interior also offers some welcome changes. The new models' interior, especially the Circuit Edition's, is distinguished by a leather-trimmed steering wheel, a branded shifter, suede and faux leather sports seats with red accents, and badges on the headrests.
Both GR Corolla models have a 12.3-inch gauge display with a performance readout that is specific to the GR, a short-throw shifter, and a mechanical parking brake as standard. However, the GR Corolla Core model has cloth seats with no red accents.
Both versions of the GR Corolla are equipped with Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, which includes a variety of collision-avoidance technologies. Aside from the Android Auto and Apple CarPlay capabilities, the infotainment software and comfort elements appear to be standard on the 2023 Toyota GR Corolla.
Toyota GR Corolla Engine Power
The Toyota GR Corolla is powered by a true show-stopper: the DOHC, 12-valve, turbocharged, 1.6-liter, three-cylinder G16E-GTS, which is also found in the GR Yaris. Transmission of the GR Corolla comes with the standard six-speed automatic transmission.
As reported by The Drive, the engine produces 300 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque. The improved power is due to improved exhaust efficiency, which is achieved by the use of a three-piece muffler that terminates in stainless steel tips.
Toyota claims that this configuration helps to reduce noise and exhaust pressure. GR Corolla can distribute torque between the front and rear wheels in a 60:40, 30:70, or 50:50 ratio. It also includes settings that are ideal for snow, dirt, and rain.
A six-speed manual transmission transfers power to all four wheels, allowing Toyota to claim that the GR hatchback is the company's first sports all-wheel-drive system in more than two decades.
As reported by SlashGear, the GR hatchbacks of Toyota will be released at the end of the year and the price is yet to be announced.
