Spotify will now be able to feature users' and influencers' playlists for a limited time, thanks to a new feature currently being tested.
The company recently announced that it is rolling out its Featured Curators pilot to test a new way for listeners to discover music they love through a collection of playlists made by select users and influencers.
Spotify did not specify its plan with the feature after its pilot test.
Spotify Featured Curators Pilot Details
According to the company's announcement, the Featured Curators pilot is a limited-time test designed to promote playlists created by popular users and influencers alongside its own.
Spotify advertised the feature as "the first to take playlist creation and discovery even further," saying that it frequently tests "unique and different listening experiences and programs" for its fans.
Users would find the new feature convenient as it makes discovering various popular user-generated playlists on Spotify much easier, per Tech Crunch. Additionally, The Verge mentioned in its article that it is handy as it is convenient because Spotify's "Made for You" playlists can only go so far when varied tastes in music are involved. Their report also said that its in-house playlists are limiting when trying to discover new artists.

The curators Spotify selected for the pilot test are said to be music lovers with established followings and popular playlists on its platform. These curators also include users telling "unique stories" through playlists and creating "authentic connections" with others.
Tech Crunch also mentioned in its article that Spotify partnered with several artists to allow its users to merge their musical preferences into a single Blend playlist that matches their favorite tracks with those from the artists. These artists include Korean boyband BTS, Charli XCX, Kacey Musgraves, Lauv, Megan Thee Stallion, Mimi Webb, Tai Verdes, and Xamã.
Spotify also updated its Blend feature to allow groups of friends or family members to create their shared playlists.
The Features Curator feature is only available to users in select markets, who will see it in the app and on their homepages. However, Spotify didn't mention which markets can find Spotify's Featured Curators available.
Spotify's Other Advancements and Updates
Spotify has been a busy bee lately, with the company releasing two new things for its app. The latest of which allows users to have a closer look at who is contributing and adding to a playlist. According to 9to5Mac, this update adds new levels of control for playlist creators and the ability to share playlists with a large public group or have playlists stay private.
The updated feature now gives a playlist creator the ability to invite or remove other collaborators, set playlists to private, add or remove members at any time, and control who follows a playlist.
Spotify also added a "What's New" feed to its app earlier in March, in which users can easily find the latest songs and podcast episodes of the creators they follow in real-time.
