Self-transforming Optimus Prime Is Back With a $750 Transforming Trailer

Less than a year ago, Hasbro and Robosen Robotics unveiled an incredible, fully programmed, 19-inch tall Optimus Prime figure that could transform from robot to truck mode (and vice versa) with the push of a button.

What is Optimus Prime without the massive trailer he tows behind him, right?

If you're a die-hard Transformers fan, your dream toy might just arrive in the form of a brand-new trailer that opens up, transforms, and reveals its own little motorized vehicle that rolls down the ramp.

Hasbro and Robosen Robotics Unveiled a $750 Transforming Trailer for Optimus Prime

After releasing a 19-inch tall Optimus Prime robot that can morph, pose, and even drive with a voice command, Robosen Robotics is collaborating again with Hasbro to sell another limited batch of the collector robot, which will be available at Robosen.com and HasbroPulse.com.

Transformers fans who bought the Optimus Prime robot might consider purchasing another component of Optimus Prime this time: "Roller," his self-transforming trailer and drone vehicle. The Trailer and Roller combo can also be purchased separately for $750.

Just to clear things up, the robot costs $750, and the trailer costs $750. Overall, this is a $1,500 toy.

However, Sean Hollister of The Verge claimed that the Optimus Prime robot costs $999 in Robosen for some reason. While Hasbro and Robosen have claimed that these are limited-edition collectors' goods, which may be correct, Hollister said that he has seen the robot in stock several times last year.

What Does the Trailer Look Like?

CNET mentioned that in the original cartoons, the Optimus Prime trailer didn't attract much attention, and once he departed his semi-truck shape, Optimus Prime didn't use it in his regular battles.

However, whenever the trailer does join in the transformation fun, it opens up and pivots upwards to become a shield, revealing some tremendous firepower thanks to its own articulating sentry blaster.

This three-foot trailer appears to be a fantastic addition to the build as it could autonomously deploy its gun turret, detach its hydraulic lifts, open its rear doors, and be towed around by Optimus, as reported by The Verge.

Roller, a remote-controlled six-wheeled vehicle that serves as a drone for Optimus on missions, is waiting for commands inside the trailer. Roller can be set free to drive down a ramp and zip around by commanding the trailer's doors to fling open.
