Google's Pixel Watch Rumored To Launch Soon — Should Apple Watch Be Scared?

New Google Pixel Watch Possible To Launch Soon

The Google Pixel Watch, the company's long-rumored first attempt at a smartwatch, appears to be getting closer to release.

According to Tom's Guide, the latest proof comes from Evan Blass, a prominent and renowned leaker who tweeted a photo of what seems to be the Pixel Watch's online manual, which you can see below:

Alan Martin of Tom's Guide said that while the Pixel Watch isn't mentioned by name, it's worth noting that "Rohan" appears to be the codename that's surfaced accompanying the majority of Pixel Watch leaks to date, so this appears to be genuine.

Blass doesn't say when the Pixel Watch will be released, although it's speculated that the earliest possible release date might be next month at Google I/O 2022.

Google I/O, as per the report of Android Police, is Google's annual developer conference that has frequently been used to reveal an all-new slate of products worth checking out, and this year appears to be shaping up to be one of its biggest yet.

Google CEO Sundar Pichai took to Twitter to make the dates official for this year's Google I/O, saying that it will take place on May 11 and May 12.

If the Google Pixel Watch does get released in May, it'll be the second Wear OS 3 gadget to hit the market, following the Galaxy Watch4 from last year.

Is Product Release Similar to Product Release?

According to leaker Jon Prosser, a product reveal differs from a product release, noting that while new hardware may be presented, it will not be available for purchase until a few months following the event.

He tweeted his speculations that the Pixel Watch would be formally revealed and released in October alongside the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro.

It's very conceivable that this information is incorrect, or that it was accurate at the time but the facts have since changed. In any case, we'll find out soon enough.

What Does Google Pixel Watch Look Like?

Much remains to be seen in terms of what we may expect from the Pixel Watch.

According to leaks, the device will have a round face and an Apple Watch-style crown on the right side, as well as some Fitbit integration into Wear OS following Google's $2.1 billion acquisition of Fitbit in 2019.

Tom's Guide mentioned that Google's coloring book also hinted at some fun color options for the Pixel Watch, which could signal the tech giant is looking to undercut the opposition with a competitively priced product.
