Best Buy recalled thousands of air fryers after more than a hundred incidents reported that they caught fire, and in some cases, it even left burn injuries to its users.

Air fryers have been a revolutionary means of frying out favorite fatty foods like french fries and chicken without requiring oil. In turn, it cuts down the calories in these sumptuous dishes at dramatic levels.
As a result, it has been an emerging trend in American households as they attempt to make their fried dishes healthier than ever without abstaining from them.
But this time around, thousands of air fryers are in trouble after the giant retailer Best Buy recalled various models of Insignia air fryers and air fryer ovens, as per a news story by CNET,
The giant retailer is now recalling a total of 772,000 air fryers and air fryer ovens that Best Buy sells both in the United States and in Canada.
Air Fryers Catching Fire
It comes after numerous reports revealed that these air fryers have been overheating.
In fact, the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) revealed that there have been a total of 68 reports of fire catching, burning, or melting air fryers in the country alone.
On top of that, there have been 36 reports coming from Canadian owners of air fryers, complaining about the same fire hazards.
According to a recent report by CBS News, the reported incidents of air fryers catching fire, burning, or melting, both in the US and Canada, have reached more than a hundred.
The CPSC said in its statement that these numerous reports "include seven reports of minor property damage and two reports of injuries." It turns out that one of the incidents even involved burning a leg of a child.
Insignia Air Fryers Recall: 2018-2022 Models Affected
The Air Fryers affected by the recent recall of the giant retailer involve Insignia Analog Air Fryers, Insignia Digital Air Fryers, and Insignia Air Fryer Ovens.
To be more precise, check your Insignia air fryers at home if they belong to the following model numbers such as NS-AFO6DSS1, NS-AFO6DBK1, NS-AF55DBK9, NS-AF53MSS0, NS-AF53DSS0, NS-AF50MBK9, NS-AF32MBK9, and NS-AF32DBK9.
CBS News noted in the same report that the following air fryers are manufactured in China. It reached the US after the giant retailer, Best Buy, imported it from the Asian country.
The affected models include Air Fryers that have been sold at Best Best both on its brick-and-mortar stores and its websites from Nov. 2018 until Feb. 2022.
