Will Operation Monarch Follow Movie Plot?

The trailer of Operation Monarch shows the two monsters fighting against each other. This suggests that the game might follow the same storyline with the movie, rather than a free-for-all that just happens to feature the characters, Polygon reported.

It is not the first time that King Kong and Godzilla appear together in a media. The two legendary monsters appeared together in a 2021 movie, "Godzilla vs. Kong."

"Godzilla vs. Kong" is an American monster film directed by Adam Wingard. The film is a sequel to "Kong: Skull Island" (2017) and "Godzilla: King of the Monsters" (2019).

The movie is the fourth film in Legendary's MonsterVerse. It's the 36th film in the Godzilla franchise, the 12th film in the King Kong franchise, and the fourth Godzilla film to be completely produced by a Hollywood studio.

In "Godzilla vs. Kong," as humans lure the Kong into the Hollow Earth to retrieve a power source for a secret weapon to stop Godzilla's mysterious rampages, the ape clashes with Godzilla.

The film starred Alexander Skarsgård, Millie Bobby Brown, Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry, Shun Oguri, Eiza González, Julian Dennison, Lance Reddick, Kyle Chandler, and Demián Bichir.

In October 2015, when Legendary Pictures declared plans for a shared cinematic universe between Godzilla and King Kong, the "Godzilla vs. Kong" project was announced.

In November 2018, principal photography began in Hawaii, Australia, and Hong Kong. It was wrapped in April 2019.

"Godzilla vs. Kong" was released internationally on March 24, 2021 after being delayed from a November 2020 release date due to the COVID-19 pandemic. On March 31, it was released in the United States, where it was also released on HBO Max simultaneously.

"Godzilla vs. Kong" received generally positive reviews from critics, with praise for the visual effects and action sequences. There are however criticism towards the human characters.
