Google has finally revealed that its first in-house smartwatch will be called Pixel Watch, as the technology giant filed a new trademark with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. This is after years of speculation.
The tech giant registered the trademark on April 19. Google filed it to cover the smartwatch and accessories like cases, straps, bands and "wearable computers in the nature of smartwatches," per CNET report.
Tom's Guide reported that leaker Jon Prosser claims that Pixel Watch will be revealed at Google I/O in May but will be released in October.
"From what I understand, Google will officially be announcing the Pixel 6a + "teasing" the Pixel Watch. Pixel Watch will be formally announced and launched with Pixel 7 and 7 Pro in October." Posser tweeted referring to what to expect at Google I/O.
Leaks on Pixel Watch Looks Circulate Online
Leak images of Pixel Watch show a futuristic, rounded, minimalist smartwatch. It has a curved display with a small control dial and an interchangeable wristband.
Front Page Tech, a youtube channel, leaked the Pixel Watch design and the mockup renders. Review Geek also published a recent leak from 91mobiles that seems to confirm Front Page Tech's previous leaks.
It is notable that Google seems to be aiming for a very minimalist design as the leaks of Pixel Watch show a simple, two-toned UI with various color options. This is rather simple and minimalist as compared to the flashy colorful screens of most smartwatches.
Pixel Watch seems to employ a variety of watch faces like other smartwatches. There are renders of the gadget that show an analog-like watch face, and there are images that show a watch face with health and fitness metrics.
Google seems to plan to release a full array of watchbands as the trademark filing covers "watch straps made of metal, leather, plastic, silicone, or rubber."

Samsung Speculated to Power Pixel Watch
It is speculated that Pixel Watch will run on a Samsung processor. This is based on the information in the Wear OS 3 emulator, and likely due to the fact that Wear OS 3 is already optimized for Samsung's Exynos platform, according to Review Geek.
Review Geekpublished that Google could call the Exynos processor a "Tensor" chip for branding reason. But it will probably be a modified version of the 5nm Exynos W920 that Samsung used in its Galaxy Watch 4, Max Weinbach explains.
According to 9to5Google, the Exynos processor should enable "next-gen Google Assistant" on the Pixel Watch. This is one of the faster version of Assistant that first debuted on Google's Pixel 4 smartphone.
As to whether Google Leaks will offer the smartwatch with LTE connectivity remains a speculation. There are no rumors yet on any other Pixel Watch specs.
How Much Will the Google Pixel Watch cost?
Tom's Guide speculated Pixel Watch will not cost as much as an Apple Watch.
Despite the fact that there aren't much Google Pixel Watch cost leaks to reference, Tom's Guide placed it in the mid-priced category. The Apple Watch Series 7 and Galaxy Watch 4 start at $399 and $249, respectively, thus is expected that Google would try to undercut these two watches slightly.
Pixel Watch could fall in the $200-$350 price range depending on size and LTE variants, according to Tom's Guide. This speculation is based on Google's pricing strategy for the rest of its hardware division.
