The Japanese tech giant Sony also announced that the Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) feature on PS5 will be released globally through a software update on the gaming console, as per a news story by The Verge.

Sony said in a PlayStation blog post that the VRR feature "will arrive globally through a PS5 console update over the next few days."

The tech giant went on to remind PS5 owners to make sure that their gaming console is connected to the internet to receive the much-awaited feature once it starts rolling out to users.

The Verge noted in the same report that the Japanese tech firm teased last March that the PS5 VRR support is seeing the light of day "in the coming months."

When Sony first confirmed that the VRR feature is coming to the next-gen gaming console, it did not disclose its rollout timeline, as well as which games support the long-clamored functionality.

However, during the initial confirmation of the PS5 VRR support, fans of the gaming console started suggesting games that would look much better once the new feature is out.

PS5 VRR Support: What Is It?

For those who are clueless about how Variable Refresh Rate works on PS5, Sony explained it in its blog post, saying that VRR syncs the refresh rate of the graphical output of the console with its display.

The Japanese firm further added that it works on HDMI 2.1 VRR-compatible TVs and PC monitors.

Essentially, Hideaki Nishino, the senior vice president for global product strategy and management of Sony, described it as a means to further "enhance the visual performance of PS5 gaming."

It should be possible as VRR helps in getting rid of visual artifacts, which include annoying issues like screen tearing and frame pacing.

PS5 VRR Supported Games

The tech giant admitted that its new VRR support is only rolling out to a few PS5 gaming titles.

It includes massively popular games, such as Resident Evil Village, Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered, and Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege.

On top of that, VRR support is also coming to first-person shooter games like Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, and Call of Duty: Vanguard.

Not to mention that it is also debuting on other PS5 titles, including Godfall, Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition, Destiny 2, Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, and Tribes of Midgard.

That's not all, though, Tiny Tina's Wonderlands, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, and DIRT 5 are also getting the new feature.
