The price tag and battery range estimate for the Subaru Solterra electric vehicle (EV) has been formally announced by the Japanese automaker.
Subaru Solterra EV
The all-new 2023 Subaru Solterra will be released in the United States sometime this summer to all of its 50 states.
However, as per a news story by Inside EVs, it will initially ship "in limited numbers."
It is worth noting that the Solterra is the first-ever all-electric Subie in town, marking the earliest rodeo of the Japanese automaker in the world of EVs, which Tesla currently dominates.
Now that the shipment of the all-electric SUV is already near, Subaru of America has finally announced the prices of the 2023 Solterra, along with its estimated range, which for some consumers is the real deal-breaker.
Previously, Subie already revealed some of the specs of its upcoming all-electric SUV, such as its dual electric motors and all-wheel-drive characteristics.
Subaru Solterra EV Price
This time around, Subaru officially shared the manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) of the 2023 Solterra.
The Japanese automaker offers three trim levels in the US, namely the Touring, Limited, and Premium.
Meanwhile, it is interesting to point out that there are no other options other than the all-wheel-drive version of the EV.
The 2023 Subaru Soltera Touring AWD 20" carries a base price of $51,995. But due to the hefty federal tax credit of up to $7,500, along with other incentives, it only sells to the tune of $42,720.
On the other hand, the 2023 Subaru Soleterra Limited AWD 20" costs $42,220 once the tax credit has already been applied. Without it, it goes as high as $48,495.
Lastly, the Premium AWD 18" variant is the cheapest option, which carries an effective price tag of $38,720, which already includes the $7,500 tax credit.

To put it into perspective, the MSRP of the AWD version of the Toyota EV is only $44,080. On the flip side, the bZ4x front-wheel-drive variant, which the Solterra lacks in the US, sports a cheaper price tag of $42,000.
Car and Driver did the basic arithmetic for us. It turns out that the cheapest Subaru electric SUV is slightly more expensive than the base Toyota bZ4x, roughly more than $3,000.
On the flip side, the all-wheel-drive Toyota is only cheaper than the Solterra by $925.
Subaru Solterra Estimated Range
On top of that, Subbie also revealed the EPA-estimated range of its upcoming SUV.
Both the Limited and Touring variants garnered 222 miles or 357 kilometers range, whereas the Premium trim, which has 18-inch wheels, achieved 228 miles or 367 kilometers.
