PUBG players may have heard about The Callisto Protocol, a horror game set in the same universe as PUBG. If you're one of the people waiting for this game to come out, you're in luck.

You might not have to wait much longer than you already have.

Striking Distance Studios head Glen Schofield recently revealed one of the games' concept art on his Twitter account along with a caption hinting that the game could be released soon.

Striking Distance Studios is the game's developer, while Schofield is previously worked for the Dead Space series as its executive producer, according to IMDb.

The Callisto Protocol Game and Concept Art Details

The concept art Schofield published on his Twitter account is quite uncanny and hair-raising. It features some form of creature that seemed previously human in a derelict building, with its body ravaged and consumed by what seems to be fleshy tentacles.

These tentacles cover most of their body, with some coming out of their eye sockets. The tentacles also come with what look like to be gigantic boils spread throughout their lower and upper body, excluding the head.

This concept art came with the caption, "Going through some of the concept art from our incredibly talented art team for [The Callisto Protocol] today. It's almost time to show you the real thing. [I] Can't wait."

Indeed, the game seems to be in the final stages of development, as evidenced by Schofield in his April 11 tweet. Geoff Keighley, famous for hosting the Game Awards, may have dropped hints that the game would be released soon during the 2021 Summer Games Fest, per Twitter user @JasonCollete6's tweet.

Striking Distance Studios announced it is developing The Callisto Protocol in late 2020, according to Games Radar. Despite the encouraging tweets, the game has yet to be given a definite release date. Hopefully, Striking Distance gives us one when it reveals more information about the game.

The Callisto Protocol Game Details

The Callisto Protocol is a survival horror game advertised as the spiritual successor to the Dead Space series. It is set 300 years in the future, a time when humanity has reached one of Jupiter's moons, Callisto, estalishing Black Iron Prison in the process.

Players control the game's protagonist using a third-person camera in their attempt to get out of the prison alive, encountering horrific creratures and discovering a conspiracy and the secrets lying within during their escape.

The game would also feature Dead Space's "diegetic" HUD, meaning that players can see the protagonist's health and other information through the protagonist's avatar, suit, gun overlays, etc.

The game is said to be available on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series consoles, and PC. Striking Distance could add more supported platforms due to information about the game still being scarce.

Striking Distance assures gamers who will be getting the game will be treated with game that has "a blend of horror, action, and immersive storytelling," which should set a new bar for horror in interactive enterment, per the game's official website.
