The First-Ever Space Hotel May be Up and Running by 2025

The first-ever space hotel may become a reality by 2025 thanks to a startup planning to build a space station that can accommodate 28 guests.

A larger station, which can accommodate around 400 guests, is also in the works. If things go as planned, the larger space station will be up and running by 2027.

No pricing or other important details have been revealed as of writing.

First-Ever Space Hotel May be Operational by 2025

The first-ever space hotel orbiting our planet may be up and running by 2025, according to a report by ComicBook.com. A startup company called Orbital Assembly Corporation is planning to make it a reality.

The report notes that the space hotel will be "the first privately-operated, habitable, free-flying station to orbit the planet."

The startup announced a model called Pioneer Space Station that is said to be ready by 2025. It can accommodate up to 28 guests at a time and the plan is to make the pods customizable.

Orbital Assembly chief Rhonda Stevenson said, "We've been able to develop a safe, secure, and reliable modular station that will generate revenue and profitability from both the tourist and commercial sectors sooner than our competitors who are adhering to NASA timetables."

The Voyager Station to be Operational by 2027

If you think that the Pioneer is too small as it can only accommodate up to 28 guests, Oribital Assembly has a bigger hotel in the works that it hopes to be operational by 2027.

Called the Voyager Station, the plan is for it to be able to accommodate around 400 guests. According to the Voyager Station website, it will be the largest man-made structure in space once it is completed.

It will feature 24 habitable modules that include villas, a restaurant, and places for research. It will also have elevators, life boats, and a docking hub.

It should be noted, however, that no details regarding reservation and pricing for both the Pioneer and the Voyager are available as of press time, according to ComicBook.com.

Other Projects of Orbital Assembly

Many businesses these days have set their sights on outer space and Orbital Assembly is no exception. Aside from the space hotels they are planning to do, the startup has other space-related projects in the works.

According to its official website, Orbital Assembly is working on a gravity ring that "will be the first, at scale, platform capable of providing artificial gravity." The startup company will be the one to operate the gravity ring, which can be operational by 2023.

Orbital Assembly is also creating an assembly robot called The OAC Station Truss Assembly Robot or STAR. The purpose of this robot is to "create segments of truss for Gravity Ring, Pioneer-class stations, Voyager-class stations, or trusses for other large structures."
