Developers of Overwatch 2 Discuss Hero Tweaks

According to Games Radar, the developers of Overwatch 2 have published a blog post about the new beta, discussing Ranked Play, hero balances, the new scoreboard, and more.

It commences by assuring gamers that elements such as hero designs, menu screens, player profiles, and more are still in the works and will not be ready for the final game launch.

As per IGN, the major adjustment will be to support heroes, since Blizzard has acknowledged that there is considerably more interesting new content for tank and damage players to explore.

However, similar to how Doomfist and Orisa received reworks, the development team is working on improving current support heroes, which could be part of this beta but are more likely to be included in following testing periods.

On top of that, IGN mentioned that Blizzard also announced that fresh new heroes, as well as new maps and features, will be joining Sojourn ahead of the actual PvP debut.

No Ranked Play in the Overwatch 2 Beta?

Games Radar additionally reported that Ranked Play will not be included in the Overwatch 2 beta. Quick Play is now the sole matchmaking feature accessible in Blizzard's shooter's new beta, and the developer says that this was a deliberate decision that will not be changed in the future.

Furthermore, the Overwatch 2 beta will receive a balance patch later this week. While Blizzard is pleased with how the great majority of heroes are balancing out, there are a few outliers that need to be addressed, according to the blog post.

Finally, the developer chose to remove the Fire and Medal systems from the Overwatch 2 scoreboard, according to the blog post. The scoreboard has already sparked debate among players around the world, but Blizzard assures them that it is still a work in progress, and that a new "Damage Mitigated" stat will be added soon.

The report noted that the list of adjustments and updates for the new Overwatch 2 beta is pretty solid, and it's encouraging to see Blizzard already taking player feedback into account just a few days after debut.

Twitch Viewing Record for Overwatch 2 Beta

Overwatch gameplay reached its peak Twitch viewing following the beta's introduction, indicating that the sequel has already proven popular.

As previously reported, Overwatch 2 drew 469,000 views less than two hours after the beta began on April 26, breaking the previous iteration of the game's record for viewership on Twitch. Overwatch fans have been waiting to hear if they were selected for the Overwatch 2 PVP beta. The only way to receive a beta key is to watch partnered streamers on Twitch for a certain period of time using their Blizzard battle.net account. A PC beta key can only be obtained until May 17.
