Genshin Impact is still coming to the Nintendo Switch.

HoYoverse, Genshin Impact's developer, assured players that the game's Nintendo Switch version will come, saying that it is still in development, according to the company's PR team, per GoNintendo.

The company previously announced that it was developing the Nintendo Switch version of the game early in Genshin Impact's development.

Genshin Impact Nintendo Switch Development Updates

According to GoNintendo's report, HoYoverse's Global PR Specialist, Xin Yang, recently mentioned that the Switch version is still in development. They also added that the company would release more information as it develops the game's Nintendo Switch version.

HoYoverse, then known as miHoYo, announced that it was developing the Nintendo Switch version of the game during the early days of Genshin Impact's development. This timeframe puts the work of the Nintendo Switch version before September 28, 2020, which is the game's official release worldwide.

Unfortunately, GoNintendo wasn't able to get more information aside from the fact that the Nintendo Switch version of the game isn't canceled.

The Nintendo Switch version may have been affected by the numerous lockdowns China went through due to COVID-19, both during the pandemic's initial spread in the country and the recent surge of COVID-19 cases due to the virus' Omicron variant. The lockdowns could have had a major negative effect on the Nintendo Switch version of the game as HoYoverse is headquartered in the city of Shanghai, which is currently under strict lockdown.

Genshin Impact fans became quite concerned with the Nintendo Switch version of the game due to HoYoverse's silence on the matter. Players' concern about the game was so great that many have decided to believe that the company has already halted the development of Genshin Impact's Nintendo Switch version, effectively abandoning the idea entirely, per Games Radar.

Regardless of its status, Gen Impact players anticipating the game's arrival on the Switch will have another reason to continue waiting.

Genshin Impact's Current Status

HoYoverse has recently postposed the game's 2.7 update due to project progress and has decided to extend Kamisato Ayaka's character event banner and the accompanying weapon banner until update 2.7 is live.

The developer will also compensate players for the delay with 400 primogems, one fragile resin, seven Hero's Wit, 16 Mystic Enchantment Ore, and 120,000 Mora every week, per HoYoverse's announcement.

The developer will also release two events during the "third phase" of update 2.6: the "Spices From the West" event, which tasks players to help Nazafirin to earn event rewards like primogems, Hero's Wit, weapon ascension materials, and mora, and the "Overflowing Mastery" event that lets you spend 20 resin to get the amount of character talent ascension materials you normally acquire when you redeem using condensed resin.

The Spices from the West event will start on May 14 and ends on June 7. Meanwhile, the Overflowing Mastery event will start on May 22 and ends on May 29.
