Disney World's New Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind — Why it’s Beyond the Coaster That You Imagined?

Looking for a unique ride? Wait no more. Disney is launching Cosmic Rewind soon.

As part of Walt Disney World's 50th anniversary, the company is opening Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind this summer.

Inspired by the "Guardians of the Galaxy" movies and as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) franchise, this new attraction is the first story-driven roller coaster inside of Epcot, according to Gizmodo.

The ride takes inspiration from the films, but it also follows Epcot concepts by promoting itself as the first otherworld pavilion in the park.

Cosmic Rewind Offers a Unique Experience to Theme Park's Guests

Disney Imagineering has found a unique way to immerse guests in the MCU alongside some of their favorite heroes in the Wonders of Xandar pavilion.

Glenn Close as Xandarian leader Nova Prime and Guardians members Chris Pratt (Star-Lord), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), and Dave Bautista (Drax) will be reprising their roles, along with the voice talents of Vin Diesel as Groot and Bradley Cooper as Rocket.

Imagineer Zack Ridley said that in the story, Peter Quill came to Epcot when he was a kid before he was taken off to the stars.

After the events of the film, Xandarians said, that they want to create a showcase on Earth that shows the relationship between their cultures, with this technology that links the formation of galaxies and the idea of jump points, as per Gizmodo.

Thus, Peter Quill said: "I have the perfect place! Epcot, because he remembered it when he was a kid."

Gizmodo said that Wonders of Xandar, the setting of Cosmic Rewind, will take guests even further in the park's World Discovery area, which features other space travel-themed attractions.

The pavilion opens with a planetarium presentation connecting the Xandarian world to Earth as coming from the same space dust.

Who's the New Villain in Guardians of Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind?

Eson the Searcher, an ancient celestial being from Marvel's Eternals storyline, is the villain the new Guardians of Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind.

The story of the ride will take a turn when Eson crashes the tour and steals the cosmic generator.

Determined on ensuring humanity never exists, Eson time-jumps back to the Big Bang. The Guardians then follow suit and decide to bring the guests along for the ride, said Gizmodo.

"Whereas some coasters may try to get thrill through inversions or top speeds, we went to story and looked at something that can put you right in the middle of the action: being chased by a villain that's larger than a planet and right alongside the Guardians, you know, trying to reset time," Imagineer Scot Drake, explained.

The concept, according to Gizmodo, is that Rocket reprograms the star blaster escape shuttles, the ride vehicles which run on the park's first omni-coaster track, and the guests join a chase through the jump point.

The story will play out on massive screen projections with the pure spectacle that guests can see as the ride vehicle rotates on a smooth, thrilling track but never drops.
