4.5-inch HTC Zara details leak: Are we looking at the HTC One Mini variant?

HTC is apparently working on yet another Android smartphone - HTC Zara - which is supposedly bound for Sprint, and some details have now leaked.

Interestingly, the leaked specs of the smartphone are quite similar to the rumored HTC One Mini, the smaller sibling of the HTC One.

The latest information is courtesy of noted tipster @evleaks who has spilled the beans on the upcoming HTC Zara via a post on Twitter. According to the tweet, the HTC Zara will be an amalgamation of the flagship HTC One and the HTC Desire.

"HTC Zara is supposedly a mashup of the One and Desire families," tweeted @evleaks on July 23.

Following @evleaks' claim, yet another well-known tipster - LlabtooFeR - posted the specifications and features of the upcoming HTC smartphone online.

LlabTooFeR, who has a good track record in terms of leaks' accuracy, apparently got the information on the mid-range HTC Zara from an anonymous tipster. In addition to the specs, he also disclosed that the smartphone will be available on Sprint in the U.S. and will also make its way to other parts of the world.

"It will be available in Sprint USA Network, possibly in Europe/Asia and will have Dual Sim modification for China," he revealed.

The HTC Zara will allegedly sport a 4.5-inch qHD display with a 540 x 960 pixels resolution and will pack a dual-core Qualcomm 400 processor clocked at 1.4GHz.

The smartphone is also expected to have 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. It remains uncertain at this point whether the HTC Zara will offer support for additional memory via a microSD card slot. The smartphone will apparently also tout a rear-facing UltraPixel camera and a 1.6-megapixel front-facing one. The HTC Zara is expected to come pre-loaded with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, with HTC's Sense 5.0 on top.

With the HTC Zara, the Taiwanese company could possibly looking at providing more options for the budget-conscious buyer. HTC already has a high-end offering in its flagship HTC One and could be looking for a mid-range alternative to lure more consumers.

The purported HTC Zara should likely sport an affordable price tag given its specs and could rival the Galaxy S4 Mini from Samsung.

There's no word yet on when HTC will launch the purported mid-range smartphone. With the HTC Zara sporting similar specs to the rumored HTC One Mini, could we be looking at another variant of the impending handset?
