Low-cost iPhone with iPod touch-like design compared with previous iPhones (Video)

Apple's upcoming low-cost iPhone has been seeing massive leaks lately. The latest is a video showing the plastic shell of the smartphone and how it compares to previous iPhones and current-generation iPod touch.

Apple is a company known for its secrecy, but it seems like it might have loosened its reigns when it comes to the upcoming low-cost iPhone. The plastic, low-cost iPhone has been leaking on an almost daily basis and now we get to watch it up close and see how it compares to an iPhone 5, iPhone 4S, iPhone 3GS, and the latest-generation iPod touch. You'll see in the video that Apple used the iPod touch's design influence with its budget iPhone.

The video provides an early look at what is supposedly the plastic case of the low-cost iPhone. The smartphone is expected to replace the iPhone 4 and 4S as the company's mid-range offering. The presenter compares the plastic iPhone with an iPhone 4S, highlighting the plastic case compared to an all-glass case, and how the low-cost iPhone is also thinner than both devices. We're soon shown a comparison of the case with a white iPhone 3GS and current-generation iPod touch; the low-cost iPhone closely resembles the iPod touch in design - it has a very similar shape and when showing the bottom of the two devices, they both feature a single 4 hole speaker grill, Lightening Connector, and headphone port in the same areas.

The low-cost iPhone shell is then compared to the iPhone 5. The case is a little thicker and wider than the iPhone 5's body. The buttons for the case had not been cut out, but the presenter shows the inside case, which indicates that it will share the same pill-shaped volume buttons found on the current iPod touch, and also its lock / mute switch. The buttons will supposedly be plastic and colored to match the body of the phone. Apple has also used a much thinner font for its iPhone label on the back of the case, presumably to coincide with the new thin font used in iOS 7, and has also made the company's logo black. The camera layout is very similar to the one of the iPhone 5 and iPod touch. The presenter describes the case as being very glossy, with a very nice form factor, and feeling comfortable to hold. He also says that it's built out of a very nice quality plastic. Check out the video below to see what the low-cost iPhone is going to look like and also see it compared with other Apple devices.
