The visit of the Vietnam Prime Minister to the United States also gave Chinh a chance to discuss with the top brass of other massive tech firms in the region, such as Google and Intel, as per a news story by 9to5Mac.

The talks with these Silicon Valley firms reportedly seek to encourage leaders in the tech industry to expand doing business in the Asian destination.

In one of his U.S. stops, the Prime Minister of Vietnam met with the top executive of Apple, none other than Tim Cook himself.

The discussion between the Apple CEO and Chinh centers on the plans to create a "fair, transparent, and market-based business environment" in Vietnam, which should help U.S. firms like the iPhone maker expand in the Asian nation.

In his meeting with Cook, the Vietnamese Prime Minister also mentioned the cooperation of his country and the U.S. in aspects like trade, investment, and finance.

On top of that, Chinh also took the chance to tell the Apple CEO that the products of the Cupertino giant are in-demand in his country, wherein residents — regardless of age — use them in their day-to-day lives.

Apple and Vietnam Relations

It is interesting to point out that while the Cupertino giant enjoys the warm welcome of tech consumers in Vietnam, it does not have any plants in the industrial destination.

Instead, according to a recent report by Mac Rumors, Vietnam is home to more than 30 manufacturing firms, which are an integral part of the production of most Apple products hitting the shelves across the world.

A total number of 31 firms are responsible for the assembly of various parts of Apple devices these days. These companies currently employ roughly 160,000 people, working hard to ensure that the iPhone and Macs get their much-needed components.

Apple Expanding in Vietnam?

All that said, the Vietnamese Prime Minister expressed to Cook that they are interested in expanding Apple's business in their country.

He further laid out how Vietnam could potentially serve as the model market for Apple in the region.

What's more, Chinh also said that it could also extend a helping hand to the tech giant to further grow its customers in the Asian territory.
