Bungie recently released the launch trailer of Destiny 2's 17th season, Season of the Haunted, wherein players are coming back to exiled Cabal Emperor Calus' personal ship, The Leviathan.

Season Of The Haunted Launch Trailer Details

Destiny 2: The Witch Queen - Season of the Haunted's launch trailer reveals that the game story continues from the Presage mission featured in the game's 13th season, Season of the Chosen, and the Vox Obscura Mission from the recently concluded season, Season of the Risen, per Gamespot.

Additionally, the Darkness-created phantom Nightmares from the Shadowkeep expansion will bring back old, dead enemies back for players to defeat and for the game's characters to confront the mistakes of their pasts.

It also heavily features the Leviathan, Cabal Emperor Calus' personal ship, which has changed drastically since players last saw it in the game's Beyond Light expansion.

A new dungeon will open within the Leviathan on May 27. This dungeon will host the Menagerie activity, wherein players can win some if not all of the latest versions of the Menagerie guns, including the Austringer hand cannon and the Beloved sniper rifle.

The Season of the Haunt will also include new activities for players to enjoy. One of these activities is called "Nightmare containment," a free public event for all players, per Polygon. This activity likely features a free-roam area like the game's other location, based on some image titles.

The other activity the game's 17th season comes with, Sever, is a paid activity taking place inside the underbelly of The Leviathan and in some of the old raid arenas.

Regardless of the activity, players will need to remove the Nightmares from Calus' control and discover his plans.

The launch trailer also features new solar abilities, confirming that the Solar subclasses are the next to receive the treatment Bungie gave to the Void subclass during the Season of the Risen and the Witch Queen Expansion.

It's difficult to tell what abilities Bungie will give during the Season of the Haunt. However, the trailer did feature a Warlock snapping their fingers to set enemies on fire, which feels like a reference to the original Bioshock's firestarter capabilities.

Season of the Haunted's Other Additions

As for loot, the Trespasser Exotic Arc sidearm from the first Destiny game is making a comeback through the game's season pass track, as well as four new seasonal weapons alongside the Menagerie weapons.

The new season will also come with new loot for the Trials of Osiris and a major overhaul for the Iron Banner Crucible event, which includes the return of the Rift game mode, per a separate Polygon article.

For the newcomers to the series, the Rift game mode is similar to Capture the Flag.

Finally, the game's summer event, Solstice, will also get a handful of quality-of-life changes through the new Event Card system.
