Sony plans to pack the PlayStation VR 2 with major games from both PlayStation Studio titles and third-party titles.

According to the presentation given to investors by Sony, it anticipates having more than 20 major titles available for the PlayStation VR2 headset when it first launches.

A slide reveals that the lineup will consist of both first- and third-party games.

In addition, Sony suggested that it will also include the Horizon spinoff that was previously announced, which is called Horizon Call of the Mountain.

PlayStation VR2 Major Games

Sony did not specify whether the twenty or more titles include ports of previously released games, such as Half-Life: Alyx, a major PC-based virtual reality release scheduled for 2020 but not yet adapted for Sony's console.

As reported by The Verge, Jim Ryan, Sony Interactive Entertainment president, said, "There is a considerable amount of money being spent on partnerships with independent and other third-party developers to secure a considerable pipeline of attractive VR content at the launch of PlayStation VR2."

Since then, Sony has confirmed that the PSVR 2 does offer a 4K high dynamic range, a field of view of 110 degrees, foveated rendering, and frame rates of 90/120Hz.

Additionally, PSVR 2 incorporates inside-out tracking, which means that it will track both you and your controller by utilizing integrated cameras that are built into the headset itself.

Without an external camera, the game will accurately reflect your movements and the direction in which you are looking.

Sony's PSVR 2 will include features like 3D Audio, headset feedback, combined eye tracking, and the PSVR 2 Sense controller to produce a more profound immersion.

It is reported that the VR 2 will make the headset more immersive with a single built-in motor that will add an additional tactile element that can imitate the player's pulse during tense moments or the rush of objects passing by the player's head.

Sony's PlayStation VR2 Release Date

Sony's PlayStation VR2 may be launched in 2023. Despite the investor presentation, the company still did not reveal an official release date for the long-awaited PlayStation VR 2.

According to Tom's Guide, it is anticipated that shipments of virtual reality (VR) displays will increase by more than 50% in 2022, reaching more than 15 million units throughout the year, as stated by Ross Young, CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants.

Rumors are surfacing online from avid Sony fans and analysts that the PlayStation 2 will be released next year.

It is not the first time that individuals have speculated that the PlayStation VR 2 will not be available until 2023. Back in February, a popular VR-focused YouTube channel called PSVR Without Parole claimed that the headset would be released in the first quarter of 2023.

In the past, PSVR Without Parole was responsible for leaking information regarding the existence of a virtual reality game that was based on Sony's Horizon series. This information was later proven accurate when Sony demonstrated Horizon: Call of the Mountain during a State of Play stream.

Following the launch of the original PlayStation VR in 2016, Sony is planning to release the Playstation VR2 as the company's second virtual reality headset. The first model of this headset was intended to be compatible with the PlayStation 4, whereas the second model was intended to be a companion to the PlayStation 5.
