Gmail on Android refines the search experience of its users when viewing either folders or labels in their inboxes.
The email client of Google flaunts tons of features on its desktop website, such as advanced searching options and email formatting, among other handy functionalities.
However, some features Gmail users love about its desktop version are missing from its simpler designed mobile app.
Gmail Android Improves Folders, Labels Search
That said, Google has gradually worked to make its Gmail Android app more packed with necessary features for a time now.
As per a news story by 9to5Google, the renowned tech firm improved the overall search features of its email client way back in September.
However, it appears to have left out the search filters when users view labels and folders on their Android mobile devices.
Ergo, Google refined its search options in folders and labels by bringing in filters.
It is worth noting that Gmail includes a couple of default folders, such as Sent, Spam, and Starred. It also lets its users create customized labels, helping time organize their inboxes to their liking and needs.
Gmail on Android: New Search Filters
But this time, when Gmail users open their customized label or their Sent folder via their Android phone, it should show a new filters option right beneath the search bar.
The options below the Gmail search bar on Android show a couple of filters like "Exclusive Calendar," "From," "To," "Date," "Unread," and "Attachment."
This new handy feature attempts to make navigation through hundreds of emails in your labels and folders a bit less of a tedious task.
Although the search option of Gmail itself does a great job in narrowing down the hundreds of emails that you hoard, it sometimes fails to show you what you are actually looking for.
But thanks to the new search filters option, specifically in the labels that users create on their inbox and their default folders of Gmail.
Gmail Search Filters
According to a report by Android Police, the search filters, which Google calls Gmail chips, have been available for both mobile and desktop for quite some time already.
Gmail search filters used to be an exclusive function on desktops, but Google decided to include mobile users last Sept. 21, 2021.
However, back then, Gmail chips were missing when mobile tried to open an inbox or label. But thanks to the latest Android app update, it has also expanded to them.
