Elon Musk Has Responded to Dogecoin Co-Creator Calling Him a 'Grifter'

According to Fortune, citing an interview with the Australian news site Crikey, Dogecoin cryptocurrency cocreator Jackson Palmer labeled Tesla's CEO as "grifter" and noted that:

He sells a vision in hopes that he can one day deliver what he's promising, but he doesn't know that. He's just really good at pretending he knows. That's very evident with the Tesla full-self-driving promise.

"Elon Musk was and always will be a grifter," but the world likes grifters, Palmer said when Musk started talking about cryptocurrency a year ago. He was of the view that the people are enthralled by the prospect of becoming a millionaire themselves, and it is this dream that the richest man is selling.

"When he talks to other users on Twitter, they're like, 'Wow, Elon is talking to me! Maybe I can be a friend of his, or even become a billionaire myself.'"

Musk Was Unable To Run a Python Script

Business insider mentioned that after developing a bot that could help identify crypto scams on Twitter, he messaged Musk on Twitter several years ago. He said it became evident during the conversation that Musk didn't grasp coding as well as he thought, implying that Musk was unable to run the Python script.

After that incident, the Dogecoin co-creator claimed that he was not a fan of Musk. His impression of him, and all billionaires, is that they are unappealing.

In response, Musk tweeted this on Tuesday:

Creation of Dogecoin

Dogecoin was developed by Palmer and Billy Markus in 2013 as a joke inspired by the "Doge" meme, which depicts a Shiba Inu dog. Markus and Palmer had no intention of Dogecoin being taken seriously, yet to their astonishment, the Dogecoin community exploded. Despite this, both left the Dogecoin project in 2015.

Fortune reported that Musk has become an outspoken advocate of Dogecoin, regularly tweeting and promoting the cryptocurrency. Musk has proposed working with Dogecoin's developers on improving the network in addition to investing in it. When the billionaire tweets or speaks, he has an impact on Dogecoin's price.

Musk Is in Good Term With the Other Doge Co-Creator

The Tesla CEO has an online friendship with Markus, but not with Palmer.

"Palmer always forgets to mention that he never wrote a single line of Dogecoin code," Musk said in a tweet (via Business Insider).

Palmer called on his fellow dogecoin co-creator, Markus, to reply to Musk's accusation in a now-deleted tweet.

Palmer Is Not a Crypto Enthusiast

Many believe we're in the midst of "crypto winter," but Palmer disagrees. He claimed that crypto promoters are just waiting for a new round of "fools" to arrive.

You wait for a while for the collective memory of the world to forget about how much of a scam it is," he said, adding that "Grifting is so easy now with crypto."

This Is Not the First Time Musk Drew His Ire on Twitter

As previously reported, after sharing an image from one of the site's articles without credit, Elon Musk got into a heated debate with Hard Drive, a satirical website.
