The latest iteration of MacBooks has transformed to be more integrated with the whole ecosystem of Apple, thanks to the next-generation features of macOS.

Starting from macOS Silicon up until the current version, the Monterey, the MacBook software has become highly integrated with iPads and iPhones.

As per a news story by Forbes, the iPhone maker now allows users to run iPadOS apps on the latest MacBook offerings.

Not to mention that Apple has previously ditched the Intel processors on Macs, replacing them with Silicon chips, similar to what iPhones and iPads offer.

On top of these integrations, there's a new feature on macOS Monterey, which allows users to use their iPads as an external display of their Mac.

All that said, Forbes notes that the renowned tech giant is now blurring the lines between its products, gradually integrating them.

But this time, a recent patent showcases how the Cupertino giant plans to include its Apple Pencil, which iPad users heavily use, in future MacBooks.

The concept could highly suggest that a touchscreen MacBook is already in mind, but we could only speculate as it is a mere patent.

In fact, according to a recent report by 9to5Mac, an Apple patent last 2021 already gave us the first look of a built-in Pencil on a MacBook.

In 2022, another patent, which expands the whole exciting concept furthermore, sees the light of day, thanks to a story by Patently Apple.

The news site reports that the United States Patent & Trademark Office published the new patent filing of Apple on June 2. It clearly illustrates and explains how the next-generation MacBook offerings could likely be.

MacBook Apple Pencil Support: How it Works

The patent filing says that the future MacBook would likely include a removable Apple Pencil. It could be mounted alongside its keyboard when it is no longer serves as a stylus, but it still has functions beyond that.

Patently Apple highlights that the Pencil could also work as if it is a mouse, at least when it lies down in its retainer, which sits on where the touch bar used to be.

It ditches the physical F keys, but they are not completely gone as it would rather be illuminated on the Pencil.

The new concept also adds a new magnetic function to make sure that the Pencil stays mounted.
