If you've been eyeing Microsoft's Surface Pro, now is a good time to purchase the Windows 8 Pro-powered tablet as the Microsoft Store is offering $100 off on the 64GB and 128GB variants of the device.
While the price drop is not a major one, consumers will welcome the discount as now they can purchase the 64GB and 128GB models of the Surface Pro for $799 and $899, respectively.
The reason why Microsoft has marked down the price of the Surface Pro barely a month after it reduced the price of the Surface RT is not known. Speculations are rife that the Redmond-based company could be gearing up to launch the successor and is looking to clear older inventory. Alternately, Microsoft could be looking to take advantage of the back-to-school shopping season.
Earlier in July, Microsoft reduced the price of the Surface RT to $349 (for the 32GB basic version) from $499. Microsoft did not reveal the reason for the price drop, but experts opined that the reduction could be due to poor sales of the tablet.
The Surface Pro comes with the full version of Windows 8 Pro installed, as well as a stylus. The tablet features a 10.6-inch display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels at a pixel density of 208 pixels per inch (ppi). Under the hood, the Surface Pro houses a dual-core Intel Core i5 processor.
For those looking for accessories, Microsoft is also offering a discount on a bundle packaging that includes Office Home and Student 2013, two-year warranty for the Surface Pro, the Type Cover, INCIPIO sleeve and a screen protector. The bundle usually retails for $478.96 but is now priced at $309.99.
