Telegram Premium, which brings a couple of new features for a price, is reportedly launching soon.
The privacy-focused messaging app, Telegram, is currently available free of charge. In fact, as per a news story by Bleeping Computer, the entire platform has yet to be monetized.
Essentially, Telegram is still working on making money off its platform, which now draws millions of users attempting to escape tech giants like Meta.
But it appears that Telegram is working to change just that.
Telegram Premium: Launching Soon?
Bleeping Computer notes that the founder of Telegram, Pavel Durov, has been tinkering with placing ads on public channels in the messaging app to earn some money from it.
In 2021, the Telegram founder confirmed that they are exploring ways to start stuffing ads on the platform.
On top of including ads, the messaging service is also working on a paid subscription tier, wherein its users get to experience exclusive features.
In early May, the Premium subscription service of Telegram first saw the light of day, teasing cute stickers and emojis exclusively available for paying users.
Telegram Premium Features
According to a report by The Verge, the Premium version of Telegram offers expanded emoji and sticker libraries. But the catch is that only its paying users get to send and view these cute additions.
In May, the Premium paid service had yet to have monthly pricing, and its new features appeared to be limited.
This time around, Bleeping Computer reports an expanded list of paid features, which users could expect from the new subscription service of the messaging app.
The entire list came from a Telegram channel primarily dedicated to giving us a glimpse of the upcoming features of the privacy-focused service.
The public channel, which goes by the name Telegram Info English, claims that the Premium tier introduces "several paid features and functions."
As mentioned earlier, the privacy-focused messaging app plans to bring ads to its platform, which some users might not be a fan of. So, the subscription service vows to remove them altogether.
Besides removing ads, it also ditches some of the limits in the free service. Premium reportedly brings faster download speed and up to 4GB of upload size, which should be best for power users.
What's more, it also includes a Voice-to-Text conversion and "Advanced Chat Management" features. The list further mentioned stickers, animated avatars, and "unique reactions."
Telegram Premium Price
Meanwhile, the price of Telegram Premium reportedly starts at $4.99 a month. But it has yet to be confirmed. So, take this with a grain of salt for now.
