The revelation came from no less than the Product Manager of Escalade, David Schiavone, thanks to his recent interview with GM Authority.

The all-new flagship full-size SUV of Cadillac, the 2023 Escalade-V, is finally out, showcasing its powerful performance and luxurious interior. It also boasts a hefty price tag of $149,990, as per a news story by Car and Driver.
The V8 engine of the new Cadillac Escalade-V packs the full-size SUV with remarkable power. The numbers alone are pretty much impressive. The 6.2-liter engine lashes out up to 682 horsepower.
Thanks to the supercharged V8, Cadillac touts that its new SUV could achieve 60 miles per hour in merely 4.4 seconds.

But, it turns out that the folks behind the vehicle once considered stuffing the full-size SUV with a massive 16-cylinder engine.
A news story by The Drive reports that the iconic carmaker, Cadillac, was once known for its 16-cylinder engines long ago. However, it failed to make a comeback in recent days.
While there were Cadillac concept cars in the 2000s paving for its resurrection, the 16-cylinder has yet to see the light of day once again.
The 2023 Escalade-V might be the most recent Cadillac vehicle to consider a 16-cylinder engine after a while.
The resurrection of the massive engine has been in the talks during the development of the newest Cadillac SUV.
According to a recent report by GM Authority, the Escalade Product Manager disclosed that there were recent talks for the resurrection of the powerful engine.
In an interview with GM Authority, Schiavone explained why the all-new Escalade-V variant took some time before it hit the road.
Schiavone says that the new performance version of the Escalade had a bit of consideration before going into its final form today.
One of the ideas for the all-new performance SUV might be surprising for most in this day and age. Schiavone shares that a 16-cylinder Escalade-V was thought of before it got its V8 engine.
GM Authority notes that the last time the automaker offered its massive and loud roaring 16-cylinder was long ago in 1940. So, a resurrection in 2022 is pretty much unexpected.
The Drive further asked the Escalade Product Manager about his revelation. But a spokesperson responded, saying that the renowned carmaker "considers and discusses all ideas, including a 16-cylinder Escalade."
