Samsung Galaxy Note 3 leaked image shows square design, dual-SIM slots and battery

A new new image of what is reportedly the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 has leaked. The image shows a square design, dual-SIM slots, and the phablet's battery.

Samsung is preparing to announce its highly-anticipated Galaxy Note 3 on September 4 at its Unpacked event in Berlin. The company is facing increased competition in the phablet market it created with the original Galaxy Note. HTC and Sony are planning to take on the Galaxy Note 3 with the HTC One Max and Xperia Z Ultra and will reportedly launch the phablets at around the same time Samsung does.

The upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is expected to offer a full HD 1080p display, high-end specs, and enhanced S-Pen functionality to set itself apart from its new rivals.

A new image has now leaked, allegedly showing the new Galaxy Note 3. The photo shows a square-shaped design and narrow body to the phablet and not the more rounded and curved design of the Galaxy S4. Previous images have leaked claiming to show the Galaxy Note 3 and featured a similar square design. Samsung is also known to put prototypes of its devices in dummy cases in order to keep the design under wraps, so that could be what we are seeing here. The image also shows the device having dual-SIM slots and a large battery (the size is not indicated).

The most recent reported specs for the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 claim it will feature a 5.7-inch 1080 x 1920 Full HD Super AMOLED display and run Android 4.3 Jelly Bean with TouchWiz Nature UX. A quad-core 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor will power it and use Samsung's newly announced 3GB RAM modules. It is expected to use the same 13-megapixel rear camera found in the Galaxy S4 and include a 2-megapixel front facing camera. The Note 3 will reportedly be offered in two storage capacities: 16GB and 32GB. Samsung is also expected to include enhanced S-Pen features and applications.

We'll have to file this in the rumor category for now, as it's always best to take such leaks with a grain of salt. We only have a few more weeks to go before we hear the official word from Samsung.
