Ubisoft’s Skull and Bones Might Be Released Later in 2022

Ubisoft's Skull and Bones just took one step closer to becoming a full-fledged game.

The pirate multiplayer game was recently found to have been rated a second time by an agency in Brazil, with the rating hinting that it will be launched sometime in 2022, according to a post on Reddit.

The game's second rating is a big step for the game as it was one of the games that came from development hell.

Skull and Bones New Rating Details

A Reddit user that goes by the name u/LongJonSilver recently posted on the r/LeaksandRumors subreddit that Ubisoft applied for a second rating for its pirate game, Skul and Bones.

According to the post, the game received a rating that makes it not recommendable for children under 16 years old, which is the equivalent of an M rating on the Entertainment Software Rating Board.

The Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) rates games or apps to help parents make informed decisions about them, based on About Us page. An M rating also limits a video game to people aged 17 or older, per the ESRB's rating guide.

However, that is not the only information Ubisoft's rating application shows. The information presented under the "Main Data" section of Skull and Bones' ratings reveals that the game's year of production is 2022.

Ubisoft setting Ubisoft's production at 2022 could mean that the game could be released sometime this year. If this speculation is correct, it would confirm an earlier report from Kotaku that Ubisoft is targeting a date around the end of 2022 as the game's release date.

Ubisoft stated in February that the development of games set for release in the next fiscal year was going well, with the games belonging to that classification being Avatar, Mario + Rabbids, and Skull and Bones.

The pirate game received an official classification in Australia in May, with the Australian rating board revealing that nudity is not a part of Skull and Bones.

Skull and Bones Probable Gameplay Details

A four-minute video featuring Skull and Bones' gameplay was leaked to the r/GamingLeaksandRumors subreddit back in late April, with the video revealing that it would be set within the Indian Ocean during the golden age of piracy.

Players start as the underdog whose goal is to become one of the most infamous pirates to ever sail in the Indian Ocean. To do so, players will have to level up their character, buy and install improvements to their ship, hunt and skin animals as well as trees and other natural resources for crafting materials, and keep them provisioned for time away from the docks.

Keeping your ship's crew is also crucial for the ambitious pirate captain during the game.

Skull and Bones can either be completed alone or with other players. However, it isn't clear if the players you invite to team up are allowed to betray and harm you at any time.
