Nokia will reportedly launch its Windows Phone 8-powered phablet in September most likely, along with other devices.
Rumors pertaining to Nokia's first-ever phablet, codenamed Bendit, have been gathering momentum of late and a new report now claims the device may launch as soon as next month.
The latest news is courtesy of MyNokiaBlog's source (believed to be an ex-employee who is not with Nokia anymore). The site reveals that the Nokia Lumia phablet will have a 1080p display and pack in a quad-core processor. It will also pack in WP8 GDR3 and will likely have a 5-inch plus screen size.
"The latest whispers to reach our ears from a source 'familiar with Nokia's plans' (but is no longer on the team) has mentioned that Nokia plan on releasing their first ever Windows Phone phablet later this year. The device will also usher in Nokia's era of Quad Core Lumias and it is very likely to also have a 1080p screen; all thanks to the upcoming GDR3 update which enables both those hardware features. We don't have any word on the actual screen size as of yet but it's definitely more than 5″," reports MyNokiaBlog.
In July this year, a photo of the alleged Nokia phablet popped up online. We also reported recently that according to Chinese site WPDang's sources, Nokia had a 6-inch phablet (dubbed "Bendit") in the works, which would likely launch after the Lumia 1020.
What's more, the Nokia Bendit phablet's existence was reaffirmed by a leakster on Twitter. Additionally, in April this year, reputed publication Financial Times disclosed that Nokia was working on it's first-ever "Galaxy Note-like" phablet.
"Those with knowledge of the company's plans said that the most innovative will be a device that can work as a phone and a tablet - known as a 'phablet' - similar in size but with more advanced specifications to Samsung's popular Galaxy Note. This will be the Finnish group's first move with Lumia into the larger screened mobile smart devices market, where rivals such as Apple and Samsung have already established a dominant position," claimed the aforementioned Financial Times report.
Nokia is widely tipped to release the 1080p phablet in September this year. The Finnish company has reportedly scheduled a press event in New York City for Sept. 26 -27, where it is expected to take the wraps off its first-ever Windows 8 tablet and Lumia phablet.
According to MyNokiaBlog, the phablet will launch at "the Nokia event this September, alongside a couple of other devices." We will have to wait and see if the much-awaited phablet makes its appearance as speculated in September and if it can throw the gauntlet to the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 3.
